Death Note finally came to an end,the final scene when Light was on the verge of death the animators made his passing more worthy of his stature,unlike the manga where his death was rather pitiful but all in all i like both endings the same,but one thing was missing at the anime end,i really thought that L`s true name would be revealed,of course we all know it but even so it would have been nice

i noticed in the realistic movie of deathnote it also ends with Light being kill by Ryuk, writing his name in the death note. Thinking that the ending in the anime might be different, i expected Light to win but Near winning is a little weird.(i still wish L was still aliveT_T also i wish i. would’ve said L’s and N’s true name would be revealed>.

ahh great anime. i really wanted light to win even though in the back of my mind i felt he was gonna lose.(good triumphs over evil?..does that mean i rooted for evil this whole time!? lol) i guess thats the only good way to end it but if it had gone the other way it probably would never end. seeing light like that is weird but good thing he kinda regained a lil composure toward the end.

I feel really bad for Light. In the beginning, the notebook hypnotized him into doing all those perverse things. And he kept killing, and playing, killing and planning. In the end, he realized he was alone, and couldn’t kill everyone in the world…
And this all happened because of his boredom, and curiosity.

That was awesome! Never thought this would be so great. Thank you very much for the creators and those who made it possible to watch this subtitled. Best serie i’ve ever seen. Beats Lost, and bleach etc. 10-0.
Death note fans: There’s coming Death note special. I don’t know the date, but I’m truly looking for it. Maybe it will explain some gaps and what happened to the world after Lights/second L’s/Kiras death. it would be interesting.
More this kind of series please =).

I noticed how everyone has been complaining that the ending was dissappointing. But comeon? How could anyone truly expect Yagami Light to win? He only triumphed against ‘L’ because he lucked out and got Rem to do his bidding. The only help he had against Near was Mikami, who in all honesty was just as screwed (if not more so) than himself. It was completely obvious that Near would eventually triumph, he wouldn’t ever have revealed his true identity were he unsure of Kira’s true persona.
The only thing that slightly dissappointed me about the final episode was that we never got to see the place known only as ‘Mu’ where users of the Death Note are supposed to go after passing. I imagined it to be a lot like the realm of Shinigami, sadly I am still left wondering.

Great ending.
I personally like L better then N, but Near was able to prove that Light was Kira, where L couldn’t, which gave Light enough time to finally get L killed. Although Near couldn’t of done it without the information L passed onto him.
Then we have Light, who I think become much more resourceful at the end by being able to use many people to do his bidding effectively (Misa,Mikami, and I forget how to spell her name, but the news chick). Even though he become smarter and his tactics were better closer to the end (including predicting his enemies movements) he became too cocky for his own good.
One of, if not the best anime ever. I generally like action ones, with fighting, but this one was full of enough twists to make it great

i love this effin’ series. i wish there were more like right now. & if there is definately more, than i’m so in. it was filled with so many twists & suspense, that i lacked many hours of sleep [urgh, baggy eyes & possibility of wrinkles!!] anyway. thanks for the upload & i’ll be in tune for more death note. in the time being, i am going to be watching the realistic movie & compare the two. oh yea, and also, i keep wondering what will happen to misa, cus shes still a suspect of being the second kira or whatever. & she has a long life span, i think. cus the death god jealous died for her. & death gods have long life spans. but she traded eyes with rem, whicg as we all know is half of a human’s life span. she lost her memory but gained it back & traded eyes again but with ryuk. again, half life span. then rem dies for her. those death gods really love misa & apples eh?

I liked this ending better than the manga’s end.
The manga ending just made me angry. Really angry. I had to put down my book several times and take a break just to prevent throwing it across the room and ruining it. And while they didn’t remove the things that I disliked in the anime, they presented it in a way that was less infuriating. It made me cry instead.
I like that Light got to die with his dignity in the anime. He got to lay down on the steps and look out the window and relax as he died, rather than go down begging for his life in a room full of people who wanted to see him dead.
I still wish he would have won, but if the anime did that they would have been changing too much.

I have to say I loved it.
Well episodes 1-36, 37 pissed me off. I was cheering him on I really was, but Light disappoited me. In the beginning he was calm all the way toward the end. It was like right when you think he is done for the count, he has another trick up his sleeve.
Light was a top student who had a cop for a dad no one would suspect him and when someone did they weren’t sure if he was KIRA. I looked at him as being patient, cool, and having a master mind that thinks before the other person figures out what your up to. But he made himself look pathetic and crazy, making excuses and trying to run for it, I wasn’t on his side anymore after that I started to hate the way he seduced people for his own will and how he took it upon hisself to take lives.
TO CLOSE MY CASE: I love the part when he found a place where the susnset touched his eyes or he could look at the sunset one last time.
BUT YOU TOOK DOWN ALOT OF PEOPLE AND MOST WHO GOT IN YOUR WAY ALL I CAN SAY IS YOU WENT OUT WITH A BANG LIGHT. I SUPPORT YOU FOR THAT. I RESPECT YOUR DREAM 100%.

loved this anime, felt so sorry for misa at the end
i really wanted light to win, but then it wouldd just be a repeat of the episode after the original L dies where 2 new foes stand in his way, i was almost in tears towards the end, i think it ruined lights wholse calm and collective nature when he started screaming and running around, would hav been a great twist to see matsuda turn around and shoot everyone though 5/5 from me

Originally I wanted L to winn… But than L died and I wanted Kira to winn. To be honest I liked Kira’s way of doing things. But in the and Light goes qrazy! It’s just not fair! I don’t care about the manga, nor the change it would be, Kira should’ve wonn!!! This episode made me cry, and it made me angry! I have even trown my own notebook away…(which looks a lot like Death-Note) I treuly hate this ending…

It was pretty good. I’d have to say I would like to know what will happen afterwards. And what would have happened if Light had won. Its too bad his shinigami wouldn’t help him. I have to be honest with you when I say that if I had a Death Note, I’d do the same thing as Light. In a way he might be my hero. He truly was after making a better world and its tragic he didn’t succeed.
In the end Light ended up in “Nothingness” because anyone who uses the Death Note is exempt from heaven and hell. Although, his attempt was not in vain.

Great series. You can’t usually get me to watch an anime unless it’s action and fighting and all that, but this one had me hooked. Twists and turns absolutely everywhere just made me keep watching. I kept thinking about one thing the entire time though. Who was I supposed to be rooting for?
I was happy every time Light got farther but it was always there in the back of my mind that he was the evil character while still being the main. It was a really odd feeling. I’d like to talk to the writers about that and have a good laugh.
I also liked how if you were smart enough, you could predict what was going to happen because nearly everything was given to you the same as to Light. Only certain places did they not give you everything; such as the end.
All in all, great anime. I also liked the screamo music for the 2nd intro for some reason.

Nyaaaa, finally, the epic story comes to a close. Justice prevails after all. This was one of the best Animes I think I have/will ever watch. Fantastic ending with good twists.
Yet something puzzles me: I cried for L, I cried for Mello, I (definately) cried for Matt, I even cried for Soichirou for Pete’s sake, but for some reason, I didn’t cry when Light bit the dust. That must be because I’m an avid L supporter. Although, I do like L more than N(I hate you, Near..). I still agree with a lot of people that Light died better here than in the Anime.
You know, I’m usually a fan of the evil character(In this case, Light), but Death Note was an exception. I liked L and Co. more than Light. For my favourite characters, Light snuck in at about fifth(Or sixth; depends if I’m in the mood to like Mello or not). His hair is just too perfect to be a homicidal maniac, okay? It bothers me.
Well, it was still a great way to close a magnificent series. I must say, it truely made my day when Matsuda PWNED Light. Matsuda deserves glory. =3

Wow, I really expected Light to win, but the ending was still really good. I wish, though, that they would’ve showed the “MU” place (where you go if you’ve written a name in the Death Note). But all in all…I’d give it a 5/5. This was one of the BEST animes I’ve ever seen. They should really make another episode explaining a little more. Like, what happens after Kira/Light/Second L dies? And do they find Light? (I’m pretty sure they do) And, what’s L’s real name!? AAAHHH! To many un-answered questions! This was a GREAT anime though.

Did any of u ppl read the manga? In it he dies begging ryuk to kill them (the SPK members, Near and the others) and and MIKAMI does NOT commit suicide he Turns against Light at the very END! calling him Scum!then he goes mad 10 days after going to prison
And and a year later Matsuda develops this theory that Near had used the Notebook himself!
OH! and it also end with this girl (who looks ALOT like Light) saying Kira is their savior.

I LOVED BOTH THE ANIME AND THE MANGA! they made a wonderful job of keeping ppl who read the manga still bitin their nails whilst watchin the anime.

I hate the feeling that something exciting is about to happen and then it doesn’t happen. During the warehouse scene I had a feeling Light had something up his sleeve, but he didnt and he goes insane somewhat. See the episodes were always set up in a pattern Kira had someone snooping around and he would outsmart them and kill the snoopers. It just kinda shook me that the last episode didnt not fit the patterns of the rest of the episodes.
P.S- what are the qualifications of being a death god. I was hoping the ending of the series would be that after Light dies he himself becomes a death god.

The ending really…..uhhh well I guess it was fitting ending for him, but Light should have won. Even if he died, he never should have lost to Near…of all people. I love Mello, and all, but honestly the series should have stopped after L died. L was the one who spent the majority of the series challening Light, once he died it should have been over. Light was cheated. Only L deserved to win against Light. Once he lost that should have been the ending.
And poor Misa….

I a bit sad that they didn’t really follow the manga much for the ending. But I guess thats in a good way. because when I read the manga, I guess I was just sort of disturbed by it. (I couldn’t get it out of my head for the rest of the day, and I just stared off and wandered around the house) the whole death=nothingness part, even though I’m athiest.

I really want Light to die, because of that evil grin of his face towards L’s dying moment. I am more of Light before, because I don’t find him really cruel. For me, he’s really cool. But after that episode 25, I changed into L. Now that I have seen this final episode, I feel pity for Light. I feel sorry because his hard works were never paid off, maybe because those were unjust things. But seeing the main character in the story beaten badly is saddening. I thought there would be a more intense scene between Light and N, that would make N move from his position. But the ending makes me feel depressed, it is not because it’s a bad one, but really a dramatic act to end the show. The route of Light towards his death with perfect music really makes me want to cry. He is so hopeless. He has nobody with him anymore. No followers to cheer, no lovers to tease, no family and co-workers to command and no L, (his only friend?) to be handcuffed with. I thought L would also give that evil grin in return to that dying body of Light, good thing he did not…because it is the most perfect moment. It seems to me that L is finally fetching Light to go home,,,”the school day is over, now we can finally walk home together”

all my faves died, L, light , mikama. L was fantastic, the 1st 15 episodes had me completely hooked. did not like Near, the twist with him knowing abt the fake notebk was lame. It was so strange seeing Light so weak and powerless at the end, really sad. Any1 else find Matsuda cute?

I hated that ending so much.
I completely expected Light to lose, but why must these animes be so completely disappointing?! It would have been a perfect ending if he had either killed Near, and THEN died, or if he had found some way to be with Misa before he died. I could accept Light’s loss more easily if he had SOME KIND OF RESOLUTION with Misa! I mean the last episode changes his personality completely anyway… why not have him actually love Misa? (They did spend five years living together…) Not to mention she’s left without her memories of what really happened. No one but Light knows how to restore those to her. That’s the worst part of the ending right there.
On another “note”, what ever happened to the third book? Is it still buried? Didn’t Light have to be in contact with a book to keep his memories after relinquishing ownership of his own Death Note? And for Kami-sama sake, what about the Yagami family??
This ending was almost as bad as Full Metal Alchemist. Soo many loose ends and no resolution to make up for the crappy turn of events. Some people may be satisfied, but I was completely let down. Great anime though, up until the end.

I liked this ending, Light was awesome and so was L. I really felt that those two midget replacements were garbage and that is why L becomes before N. And I’ve been reading about how people claim they would use the death note the same as light. Not me. I would use it like the Yotsuba group. Gotta make that green you know

There is more to the notebook and The shinigami that I can’t seem to let go. Maybe it’s the fact that Ryuuk had another notebook from a totally different shinigami other than Misas’ REM, and even though a book was given back to Rem to kill L why did Ryuuk take it from the clown faced shinigami in the first place did Light tell Ryuuk to retrieve another Notebook?

Wonderful ending. I must say thank you to Near, Mello, and Ryuuk for avenging L. I shed tears, but of excitement, happiness, and rage as the ending played. Light killed L, he got what he deserved. Oh and even Mello and Near put together, they still don’t out match L. They had more evidence of the Kira case that L left behind. Much easier for them to win.
Regardless, I thank them for avenging L and Ryuuk for actually dealing the death blow on Light. And to Light I have to say…

i hate the ending.. i want light to win!! i wanna see those freakin weirdos killed!!! L using his feet, mello always eats chocolates wherever he is and near playin with a bunch of toys!! Freakin weirdos!!! unlike light.. well dedicated and focused.. just a silent person but made a bang that the world crashed upon!! i adore light not because of the mass killings but the way he does things, his personality and dedication.. light.. also an asshole.. left a little piece of mistake.. if only he dug deeper.. he won.. thats all I have to say..

The true winner here belongs to one character……“Ryuk”.
His sick laugh should have ended the series.
The only other person in this series who could claim a victory would be “Near”…but that victory would be hollow. Many people died under his watch. Even Mello was sacrificed during his so-called victory.
Nah The person who was bored and wanted some excitement got what he wanted.
BTW: I loved the series….some slow spots in the middle can be forgiven.

I have to say that the ending was very good, even thought i personally wanted Light to win and to kill that annoying, L-look-a-like brat, Near!!!
I originally started reading the manga and only found out there was an anime of Death Note a couple of days ago and, even though i am disappointed that there was only like, 2 dubbed episodes and the opening and ending music changed (for the worse), i am glad it is very similar to the manga!! Even though i havent actually read all the manga of it yet!! So i didnt know anything that happened after Higusi being caught and surrounded by the police!!
But it was a very good ending, i am glad that Light got to die with at least SOME of his dignity intact!!
Even though he did run around and scream like a mad man, which totally ruined my opinion and perception of him btw!!
Oh and i too would have liked to know what happened to Misa-Misa and the rest of the world!! The end bit made me cry when Light died and when Misa-Misa was on that building!!
I assumed she commited suicide, as she said a while back when she first come into it, that she wouldnt live in a world without Light!! I didn’t want her to die!! She was a great character, even though she was made stupider as the series went on!! But it was also sad what happened with Rem!! I liked her, didnt want her to die!! Didnt want errmm….the news girl, Light’s old girlfriend in college, to die either!! I loved the scene with her and Light when he told her he was Kira and they hugged, even though he looked evil and was using her.
And i liked the kiss between Light and Misa at the very beginning of the episodes!! i know its a bit late to be saying that but yeah!!
And did anyone else notice that L, M and N all had weird little habits that they did when they were thinking!? Mello always ate chocolate, Near always twiddled and played with a bit of his hair and L would always be doing summat with his feet!!
One last thing before i go!!
I have to say the only true winner in it all……was Ryuk!!!
He got everything he wanted!!!
And to think……this all happened because he was bored!!!!!!

Awesome!! but Light didn’t have to die…Well at least he had a worthy death. It made me be all sad and depressed at the same time. I heard about this anime how badass it was and so i got my hw done sat down one sunday and watched this back to back….every episode made me want to watch the next one…i kinda felt the series died a lil bit with “L”’s passing but NEAR and MELLO brought that vibe back into it…it was kinda weird to see his freakout at the end but i guess that was one of the best endings i’ve ever seen in anime next to 08th ms team and cowboy bebop

okkk…I love L and when N gave his whole speech about being better than L..oh please. haha the only reason I think that L didn’t just proclaim Light guilty is cuz he was IN LOVE WITH HIM!! i mean c’mon. L had lots of evidence and he was always like “let’s investigate light cuz he might be kira” He knew enough to be almost positive that Light is Kira and I think the only reason he didn’t say it was because he didn’t want Light to die.

This was a great end to a great anime. Misa, without knowing, decided that it was all over. Light, he was so different before dying. Ryuk, even though his boredom would soon begin, he was kind enough to let Light see the sunset one last time. Matt and Mello died without any importance, and Near is now able to live his life with the great accomplishment of catching the world’s greatest threat. At first, Kira WAS justice, but in the end, he was only insane.

Wow. thats all i can think of. Wow. that was weird. he pretty much went crazy. He was a lot smarter in the begining. Sure he may have started manipilating people in the end but he was way calmer and calculative but then he went all crazy. It was a great serious and good but realistic serious which your really don’t get that often. You almost never get a realistic ending that is actually any good. I was hoping for him to when but I always knew in the back of my mind he would fail, you can’t stop everybody from doing evil things. He was evil but he had good intentions, still it wasn’t his place to decide that those people had to die. I think that, like Death note luvr(three replys up) that he only got that far because L liked him in some way or another because if you remeber he did say that he thought of Light as his only friend but i don’t he was gay, he did say that he like Misa’s modeling in one of the earlier episodes. He should have been caught a lot earlier than he did considering how much evidence L had on him. Just say people, you guys who are reading this should think about it. All in all I liked the ending. Also for those still reading it Wow. Congrats you have a of free time.

I was really interested up till episode 20-ish where they bring in N, ‘Cause i really would of liked to see Yagami Light being god, and N just brought in some very boring scenes. I think it ended pretty quick. From episode 1 - 15 or so, there was a lot of detail in to the investigation of kira. But onwards, it was pretty quick, especially when Near guesses that Light is Kira and also the second L. Should have done more investigating, I think they wanted to speed it up a bit.
Isn’t their a second and third series to this? I’m pretty sure I saw them somewhere..
I personally do not like the movie, it skips a lot of the Anime story..

Good anime overall, if only because it’s different.
It dragged on a little bit once L and Light got too close. It’s hard to get hooked when there’s not one character you can relate to. The bad guy has absolutely no respect for life (and puts recklessness over thinking things through. consistently.)
Almost all the good guys are borderline retarded, and the smart good guys act like aliens. and die. 66% of the time.
As to Light’s death, good riddance.

Light got what he had coming. He was just a mass murderer with an elegant weapon. In the end his ego got the best of him. Its truly amazing how different the paths to the same objectives can be. Light wanted a better world, but my God he was the most rotten apple on the planet.
You know who lost the most in this series? Light’s mother. Her husband was killed, her daughter traumatized in a kidnap, and her proud son is killed after being revealed as Kira, the mass murderer who was responsible for her husband’s death. Truly, she is the one who lost the most.

mmmk, First off this episode was the only one that suprised me at all (without reading the manga, which I still want to do, I was able to guess roughly what was going to happen in the previous episodes) so this last part at least provided a little bit of uncertanty and the music at the very end was very nice. I personally would have continued the series for about 10 more episodes and then BOTH Near and Light would wright each other’s name on a piece of the notebook and Ryuk would give misa the notebook and she would finish what light had started while facing off against mello whom I wouldn’t have let die quite yet. L should have never died in the first place but since he did, this is what would be a much more interesting outcome.
On a side note, L only uses numbers when he is more than 100% sure about something, but doesn’t have the proof needed for court. Near is the same way. Also, Near was only able to catch Light in the end because of what L had already done and Near doesn’t deserve to live if Light dies.
Except for the “numbers” part, this whole thing is obviously My Personal Opinion and I really don’t care what anyone else thinks, but The whole idea of the MU is completely possible and just as likely as the posibility of Death Gods writing names in a notebook.

Man that ending sucked for me, i really wanted light to become the god of the new world, and i wish atleast light was killed by L, not Near! Near is a little weirdo kid opposed to L who u could actualy see the teenage side of sometimes. Best alternative ending : light + takada or whatever her name was, became gods of the new world and then after the world is in orer, light dies by Ryuuks hand… it was an amazing anime, 10/10, gunna miss not being able to watch new episodes…

I cant believe it, when I watched the very first episode I thought this was going to be a boring show to watch but as I watched I was drawn in, and as the series went farther I found myself thinking that light was a souless and heartless man and that I would love to watch him die, but for some reason at the end I found myself disappointed when his time of death finally came, I found myself wishing he could survive, it is just so confusing

I really wanted Light to win… the fact he didn’t pisses me off… such a cliched ending for real. Always the supposed good guys win… but yet they don’t see the whole picture. If Ia human was to receive such a thing as a death note… the human would make the world a better place. It is only human nature to kill and to say that you wouldn’t is a utter lie. In reality no one would figure out you were doing the killing.
This is just a point of view, I’m not going to kill anyone, no one deserves to die. But humans are weak and that is how most would respond.
Basically they are saying it is ok for criminals to kill, but when a person kills the criminals off it is immoral. That is idiotic, what about the death penalty that is killing someone and the government has done it numerous times. That is only hypocritical and that is why I support Light in the anime, enough said.

I can see where he is coming from, trying to justify the world in all, but he, nor anyone else had the write to do so. Thats why he became insane, the task is an inhumanely task. Ultimately, Light being willing to kill the innocent led to his demise. On two occasions, really. Maybe more.
The first one was when he killed Ray Penber and the FBI agents. Had he simply acted as if he was innocent, Penber would have completed his investigation into the Yagamis without any suspicion. L wouldn’t have been so adamant at pursuing Light at the time. Ultimately, Light would never have been confined and he would never have had to make up a fake rule about the Death Note. Instead he killed the innocent.
The second time was when he decided that he would kill Near, and everyone at the meeting. He could have had Teru write “Yagami Light” well as the rest of the 7 that were at the meeting in the fake notebook that he knew had been replaced. Teru could have claimed to have tailed Gevanni to the meeting and wanted to exterminate Kira’s opposition. This would prove Light’s innocence once again. If Teru thought he was killing people, he wouldn’t write Kira’s name in the death note. Near would be thrown off the trail.
All in all a very good anime. I preferred the first 25 episodes, but I understand the need to bring everything full circle and have Light die with Ryuk writing his name down. I wish it wasn’t dragged out for 12 more episodes though. In my mind, L should have discovered that Light was Kira and then died, causing Light to die soon after. I was waiting for L to say at some point “100%” in regards to his suspicion of Light being Kira. I wish it would have happened.

I think they just wanted to hurry Deathnote along to its end after the death of L. They could have done a lot more characterization with the new characters and take it slow but interesting with the rivalry game between Near, Mello, and Light. They might have also gone somewhere with the love triangle between light, misa and Takada, but instead they rushed it and gave victory to two characters we really couldn’t give less of a damn about.
Light really shouldn’t have lost. From the beginning he would have been sharp enough to see through it or at least take precautions at the possibility that Near would know the notebook was a fake. Old light would have instead done something along the line of telling Mikami that he will ascend to immortaliy if he wrote his name in the notebook and to note write the name of the individual he was looking at, shifting suspicions to Near. That would have been an infinitely more interesting ending and allow the series to continue.

too bad L didn’t get to catch light. L was one cool cat, but you know what they say: curiosity killed the cat.

omg that is the most depressing think i have ever seen i new it was coming but i still masnt ready for it lolz
