The Human Instrumentality Project continues as humankind attempts to complete its existence. Shinji continues to struggle with the impact of his personal existence, and eventually views a world in which he is not an Evangelion pilot. Shinji, now understanding that his existence is not fixed, destroys the constrictive shell which he had formed around himself. He is met by all of the other characters from the series, who applaud and tell him “Congratulations!” The final scene of the series shows Shinji smiling and saying, “Thank you all.”

interesting ending, its just to bad the last episodes were all self realizations, I would have thought the anime to end in a grand battle between shinji and adam… excellent series though, I am glad that I watched it!!!

wow..that was horrible
i see why a lot of people who like the series hated the ending,
and thus the creator of the series making “death and rebirth” and “the end of evangelion”… thanks for the episodes. great site, and keep up the great work.
